I run the day-to-day news operations in the Public Relations Department for Northwell Health, which is the largest private employer in New York with 23 hospitals and 600 outpatient ambulatory and physician practices.

Vandewater Media, New York, N.Y. — September 2015-July 2016.
As Editorial Director, I oversaw the day-to-day editorial and social media operations for the digital startup News in Brief. I was involved with branding, product, staffing and more for the best news startup around. I was promoted in February after serving as Senior Editor.

New York Daily News, New York, N.Y. — September 2014-September 2015.
Online news editor for one of the largest newspapers in the nation. Breaking news desk. I not only managed a staff, but acted as lead reporter on everything from deadly police shootings, countless protests in NYC and Ferguson, Mo., to plane crashes and train derailments. I also tackled politics, entertainment, sports and various viral social stories. I routinely mined social media platforms such as Twitter and YouTube to turn hidden gems into major hits.

Long Island Pulse Magazine, Patchogue, N.Y. — November 2008-October 2010, June 2013-present.
Contributing writer for Long Island’s full-glossy monthly lifestyle magazine. Started its weekly sports blog, Long Island Sports Buzz. The Press Club of Long Island named it the best news blog of 2010. The magazine named my 2009 feature on mortgage predators one of the best in the publication’s history.

Regional Editor of 12 Long Island sites for community news champ Patch.com. AOL-owned with a focus on real-time community-based news. I oversaw 10 full-time employees and dozens of contributors. I wore many hats, from training staff and doing payroll to marketing events and social media. Also served as deputy for New York City/LI market, which included more than 50 sites and staff. Met regularly with our publisher and went into the field to help sales staff add accounts. Led several public outreach efforts to help strengthen brand awareness. I’m a four-time Press Club of Long Island award winner.

Early Edition Media, Inc., Huntington, N.Y. — November 2006-present.
Owner and publisher of online media company, focusing on hyper local ventures such as
Friar Sports.com and Pizza LI.com. Company also provided web services under the
banner of Build N Click, from site design and hosting to domain name acquisition.

Newsday, Melville, N.Y. — June-August 1995; September 1996-September 2007.
Staff writer charged with coverage of 130 Long Island high schools. Duties included
writing weekly column for main section and for High Five, Newsday’s weekly high
school sports supplement. Responsible for breaking news and event coverage. Have also
covered, when needed: Mets, Yankees, Jets, Giants, Knicks, Islanders, MetroStars and
college football. Part of team coverage of 1998 Goodwill Games. Sports intern during
first stint.

Covered track and field events as well as the bombing at 1996 Summer Olympics in
Atlanta. Offered general assignment job.
